New additions to the Archive

As part of our ongoing work to document and make accessible the Society's historical and reference collections, we also receive donations from our members and the public.  The items outlined have been recently collected and were apparently saved from Vickers-Armstrongs South Marston prior to closure.  Amazing to consider that the 1936 file concerning the Spitfire I contains the hand written and drawn work of those involved in the early development of the aircraft.  The annotations inside suggest it was retained in the vault at the Supermarine factory at Woolston in Southampton and therefore survived the bombing raids during the Battle of Britain.
